Student Information

Student Progression Through Courses

  • Courses must be navigated in order: students will need to complete the requirements for each page, lesson, and module before they will be able to progress through the course materials.
  • All assignments will have non-punitive due dates. Due dates help students stay on track in the course and allow TEL and partners to track student progress.

Student Guides

  • Canvas Student Guide (includes everything students will need to know)
  • Recommend students focus primarily on the following:
    • “How to View Announcements”
    • “How to Submit an Assignment”
    • “How do I Use the Course Homepage”
    • “How do I View an Assignment”
    • “How Do I Reply to a Discussion”
    • “How Do I View My Grades”
    • “How Do I Use the Inbox”

Policies and Accommodations

Information and Policies on Student Needs

  • TEL Policy on Testing Retakes: Students can retake midterm exams and final exams at the discretion of the TEL Academic Services Team and the Institution. We discourage this practice, however, it can be considered in special situations.
  • TEL Policy on Student Emergencies: We evaluate student emergencies on a case-by-case basis. If a student contacts TEL with concerns, they may not be able to complete the course. We will notify you before action is taken.

Special Accommodations

  • TEL is proud to be able to offer special accommodations to students who are on a 504 plan. To view a full list of accommodations students may be eligible for, please click the link here.
  • If you have students needing the accommodations listed, please send an email to disabilityservices@tel-education.org providing the student’s name and course(s) they are or will be enrolled in, along with the requested accommodation.

Student Support and Technology

Student and Faculty Support through TEL

It can be used to live chat with our support team or access our Knowledge Base, which houses an extensive list of Frequently Asked Questions.

Technology Requirements

  • Desktop or portable computer, including Windows PC, Macintosh OS, or Chromebook(tablets, cell phones, and iPads are not supported)

  • Please review the Technology Requirements & Troubleshooting Steps for more information.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What if a student requests early access?
    • Students cannot access courses early but they are encouraged to start the orientation class early and review the Canvas Student Guide.
  • Are proctoring exams a requirement?
    • Yes, students must have an ID and allow for live proctoring by a third-party company.
  • Can a student drop the class?
    • We want to tell students they should drop within 2 weeks of starting their course. (There is only a 2-week window from our term start date.)  They should replace the course with a regular high school class if it is a graduation requirement. There will be no refunds for dual-credit courses.
  • What if a student is having trouble logging in to JU course?
  • What if the student wants a transcript?
    • Our high school transcript will show the dual-credit course. But if the students want a transcript from Jacksonville University, direct them to visit Jacksonville University
